In this particular instance, and often when we are removing hedgerow stumps that are so close together, we will grind through all the earth the entire length of the old hedge. This is because there are usually a number of other small stumps and roots from young trees and shrubs which have also invaded the hedge and taken root. As the stump grinding machine is extremely powerful, its cutting wheel with its special tungsten carbide teeth grinds through the stumps and earth with ease, chipping up everything in its path. The end result is that the stumps have disappeared into a fine woodchip and also the area has literally been rotavated at the same time. This makes replanting or redeveloping the area a simple task.
